Rodgersia ‘Superba’
The exotic-looking foliage of the rodgersia gives gardens a pre-historic feeling with its large green leaves while also adding incredible architecture with its height.
Rodgersia pinnata ‘Superba’ (rodgersia ‘Superba) emerges in spring with beautiful bronze-colored leaves that mature to a rich green by summer. The foot and a half wide palm-like divided leaves provide excellent contrast with its thinner-leaved neighbors in the dark plate. This clump-forming perennial sends up red stems with panicles of bright pink flowers similar to a large astilbe in early to mid-summer. The airy flower heads remain standing as an interesting architectural statement long after the flowers fade.
