The underside of the petals of the white flowered ‘Dainty Swan’ are mauve-pink. This hybrid between the autumn flowering Anemone hupehensis and the spring flowering A. rupicola has a much longer flowering period than Japanese windflowers flowering as it does from mid-spring until well into autumn. As it doesn’t run at the feet like Japanese windflowers and grows only 20 to 24 inches tall by 16 inches wide, this Anemone is ideal for smaller gardens. Best grown in dappled shade which isn’t allowed to parch during dry periods.
